Five Dera Sacha Sauda supporters in police custody have claimed that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan was the main mastermind of August 25 violence and she sanctioned whopping Rs. 1.25 crore for the sect’s supporters in Panchkula to attack police and paramilitary force and destroy public property.
Violence that erupted immediately after the conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh claimed 31 lives and left 250 injured. Government property worth rupees several crore were damaged.
Honeypreet claimed that she was innocent and that she was in the dark about what had happened on August 25. The Haryana Police is likely to conduct a narco analysis test on Honeypreet, since she remained evasive about many key questions.
The statements of all five Dera supporters — Rakesh, Chamkaur Singh, Dan Singh, Dilawar and Surinder Singh — have been videographed by the police. They also claimed that Honeypreet would handle all financial matters in Dera, along with Ram Rahim’s movements outside it.
Honeypreet was arrested on 3 October, after evading arrest for over a month.
