Skipper at sixteen

Sixteen year old Sayan Kumar Biswas from Howrah has drawn attention of the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) for his superb performance in tournaments organised by the Zonal Cricket Association (ZCA) and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

The boy from Belur in Howrah, is a student of Class XI of Belur Boys’ High School, is the U-14  skipper of ZCA this year and scored a splendid century (126) runs in the semi-final against North Zone held in Hyderabad. In the final match against Central Zone, he scored 80 runs. He became U-16 cricketer of the year from Bengal in 2014 as the fourth highest run- getter of the country. In 2017 he was also in the U-16 Bengal team where he scored a clean double century against Haryana at the quarter final in Vidharva. He won Best U-16 Cricketer of the Year in the 2014-15 Ambar Roy Sub-junior Cricket Tournament. He has been included in U-19 Bengal team and are now practising in Kumartuli Club.

Sayan started cricket coaching at Howrah Sammelani and played for the club for five years. “He has the potential of a becoming a good cricketer. I will not be surprised if he gets chance in the national team in future,” said Parthasarathi Ghosh, Sayan’s coach.
