Two white tiger cubs mauled to death their keeper who was recruited just a week ago in Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta Biological Park.
According to zoo authorities, Anji, the 41-year-old keep had gone to place meat inside the enclosure for the animals without noticing it was open on the other side where the cubs were resting.
“He tried to escape but the cubs chased and killed him,” said an official of the biological park. Police registered a case of unnatural death based on a complaint by Park authorities.
“Since a police investigation is on, it is not fair for me to give any reason behind Anji’s death,” said Santosh Kumar, executive director of the park.
Two years ago, another animal keeper was badly injured in an attack by lions at the Park, where five royal Bengal tigers attacked and killed a white tiger recently.
